What is the High School Enrollment Support Fund?

To create a society where all motivated high school students can study with peace of mind, the government supports household education expenses by providing students with the High School Enrollment Support Fund for tuition.

No Repayment Required
This is not a loan-type scholarship, so there is no need to repay it in the future.
  • For public high schools, if you qualify to receive the enrollment support fund, tuition payment is not required.
  • To use this system, procedures are required. Explanations will be provided by your high school, and notifications will be distributed.

Calculation Method

For households where the calculated amount using the formula below for the income of guardians (parents with custody; both parents if applicable) is less than ¥304,200 (approximate annual income of ¥9.1 million or less)

These are the eligibility criteria as of April 2025 (Reiwa 7) and may change due to revisions in national laws. Please check the latest system information distributed by your high school.

Online Application

Login ID and password for online application will be distributed by your high school, so please log in to the "High School Enrollment Support Fund Online Application System" to apply.

Distributed at the high school during enrollment procedures.

Written Application

It is also possible to apply in writing. If you wish to apply in writing, please contact the administrative office of your high school.

Required Documents

The application requires the My Number (Individual Number) of guardians. Even if you do not have a My Number Card, you can apply if your My Number can be verified through a copy of your residence certificate with the Individual Number listed, a residence certificate record certificate with the Individual Number, etc.
